A game created for the 14th Pirate Software Game Jam!

Background: 

  • You are 4 squads on a off-world colony tasked with fighting back an infestation of mutating alien plant life sprouting up in domes

Win conditions: 

  • Reach 100% research

Lose conditions: 

  • HQ is overrun by infestation when infestation countdown reaches 0 OR
  • All 4 research domes are lost OR
  • You lose 10 of the 15 domes on the board

Controls:

  • 1 - Select Scientist squad
  • 2 - Select Pyro squad
  • 3 - Select Botanist squad
  • 4 - Select Engineer squad
  • Q - Select "Move" action (squad will move, but not fight)
  • W - Select "Special" action
  • E - Select Fight action
  • Left-click - Select highlighted squad (game piece or UI button) or select respective action from UI button
  • Right-click - Issue command to selected squad (default action is Fight)
  • P / Spacebar - Pause game
  • M - Main menu
  • The player CAN issue commands while paused!

Squads:

  1. Scientists
    1. Special - Generate research in infested dome where no fighting is occurring in same dome
    2. Passive - Slow infestation growth by 50%
  2. Pryos
    1. Special - 4x infestation fight speed (Uses 1 Food, 2 Fuel)
  3. Botanists
    1. Special - 4x infestation fight speed (Uses 2 Food)
  4. Engineers
    1. Special - 4x infestation fight speed (Uses 1 Food, 2 Parts)

Domes:

  • HQ (red antenna) - Produces 1 Food per cycle, instant loss if enters "Lost" state
  • Neutral - Does nothing but get infested
  • Food (plant top) - Produces 1 Food per cycle
  • Fuel (cloud top) - Produces 1 Fuel per cycle
  • Parts (gear top) - Produces 1 Part per cycle
  • Research (flask top) - Produces 1 Research per cycle IF Scientist is researching

Infestation:

  • Infestation will pop-up randomly and scale down/up in pop-up rate as more/less domes become infested
  • Fully infested domes will spread roots to connected domes and increase chances of spawning infestation in those domes
  • Fully infested domes will be lost after 60 second without fighting it back

Known issues:

  • Infrequently, when playtesting on web, squads got stuck in the middle of domes, unable to receive commands. Root cause was not able to be determined before Game Jam submission

Windows version is unsigned, so will report unsafe. Just ignore (at your own risk as with any unsigned .exe) and play!
